How do you find the right Disc Jockey for your event?

It is important to spend time talking to your potential vender and get a feel for their personality.
The people you select to work with for your event can make or break the day, do not select based on price alone. Speak with them an find out if they are willing to work WITH you. They should be able to provide options for your event.

When I meet with clients for a wedding reception, for example, we spend more time planning the order of events for the day than we do discussing music. Order of events include: Introduction of Bride and Groom, Cake Cutting, Toasts, Special Dances, Bouquet and Garter Ceremonies and other special events you wish to have take place during the reception.

The reason for this is your Disc Jockey is also your Master of Ceremonies (Emcee) It is their responsibility to coordinate with all the other venders to make sure the event flows smoothly.
The last thing you want is for your DJ to start the First dance without making sure the photographer is ready. My establishing the order of events, your DJ can coordinate with the other venders to establish when events will happen and when have all the key players in place.

The music can be easily covered, just make sure your Disc Jockey is willing to play your requested songs and not ignore your must haves and dislikes.
